Welcome to RecommendRecipes!

Hi, I’m Lily Davis, and welcome to my little corner of the internet! Cooking has always been more than just a hobby for me. It’s where I find joy, creativity, and connection. Over the years, it’s grown from something I did to get through busy days as a student to a passion that completely transformed my life.
Through Recommend Recipes, I get to share the dishes that mean the most to me, the ones inspired by my family, my travels, and my endless curiosity in the kitchen. Whether it’s a comforting classic or a twist on flavors I picked up from my adventures, every recipe here has a story behind it (and maybe a kitchen mishap or two!).
Grab a cup of coffee (or tea!) and let me share a bit more about how this all began. I think you’ll love the journey as much as the recipes!
My Journey to the Heart of Cooking
From Surviving to Thriving: My Journey to Food Blogging
Cooking wasn’t always my passion, it began as a necessity during university. With help from my mom and grandma, I learned the basics like soups and simple roasts. Surprisingly, I fell in love with it. The kitchen became my retreat from the stress of studying, and before long, I was experimenting with recipes and sharing meals with friends. Seeing how food brought people together sparked something in me, and by the time I graduated, cooking had become a true passion.

After university, I entered the world of corporate banking, a demanding job that left little room for creativity. Weekends became my sanctuary, where I’d escape into the kitchen to try new recipes and host dinners for family and friends. My husband, always my biggest supporter, loved how cooking lit me up and often joked that my meals were the highlight of his week. Those quiet moments in the kitchen reminded me that cooking was more than just a hobby, it was my calling.
A Leap of Faith: From Food Tourist to Full-Time Blogger
By 2021, I was craving more. With my husband’s encouragement (and a promise that he’d happily taste-test everything), I took a three-month break, not just to rest, but to immerse myself in food cultures around the world. From making fresh pasta in Italy to savoring aromatic spices in Morocco, learning the art of balance in Thailand, and precision techniques in Japan, every moment deepened my love for cooking. It wasn’t just the food that inspired me, it was the people and their stories.

One unforgettable moment was meeting Emily, an Italian food blogger, who shared her journey over coffee. Her advice opened my eyes to the possibility of sharing my passion for food with a wider audience.
When I returned home, I knew I couldn’t go back to corporate life. With my husband cheering me on, I launched Recommend Recipes to share the dishes, stories, and inspiration that had shaped my journey. What began as a passion project quickly grew into a full-time career, one rooted in creativity, connection, and the joy of helping others discover the magic of cooking.
